Shooting at Gunston Plaza Friday evening

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

SHOOTING: 700 block of Gunston Plaza, 04/21/17, around 8:45 p.m. Two men were fighting when one of them, a 25-year-old, became unconscious. The second man continued to attack the unconscious man, when a 35-year-old man attempted to intervene. The suspect ran away but then turned around and fired a handgun toward the victims, striking the 35-year-old in the lower leg. Both victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was described as black, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, and 170 pounds. He was wearing a green shirt and khaki pants. The investigation is ongoing.

[MNCA-Notices] Historic Pohick Church Signature Tea - Saturday April 29th

Saturday April 29th the Docent Guild of she Historic Pohick Church will have its Signature Tea.  Festivities start at 1:30 at The Golden Dove Gift Shop, followed by tours of the church at 2:00. Tea seating will begin at 3:00 followed by "The Language of Eighteenth Century Fans" presented by the living history group.  Music will be provided by the Apollo String Quartet.

We invite all residents of Mason Neck who are interested in eighteenth century life to attend.

We are happy to announce Congressman Don Beyer will be hosting a Town Hall meeting on Thursday, May 4 at 7:00 pm at Gunston Hall. Below is the link to a registration form for the event. While Congressman Beyer's office has noted that registration is not required it would help them to plan for the number of people attending.  But please feel free to come without registering if you wish.

All are welcome. Site is along the Washington Rochambeau Route. Lots of potential mud.  Site may not be suitable for young children , elderly, or disabled volunteers. Parking for 10 cars a short distance away. No restroom facilities.   Directions to Pohick Creek by Water Treatment Facility: from FT Belvoir, south on Rt 1, to left on Old Colchester Rd at Pohick church, approximately 1 mile to parking by water treatment facility and site is Pohick creek starting at the Old Colchester/Pohick creek Bridge   High Schoolers:  Community Service Hours available!
