LCAC Thanksgiving Outreach this weekend, closure announcements & more!

Service Spotlight
Our Thanksgiving Outreach is happening THIS Sunday, November 24th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. If you'd like to help out, it's not too late...
 
Download the food collection list here
Official Drop-off: Food donations should be brought to the Moose Family Center (9612 Fernedge Lane, Lorton) between 11:00 a.m. & 2:00 p.m. Bring your completed donation form to speed up the drop-off process. 

Alternate Drop-off: Bring donations to INOVA HealthPlex Lorton by TOMORROW. You can enter through the 24-hour Emergency Room Entrance. 
This holiday season, LCAC will serve more than 400 low-income families by providing holiday food baskets & gifts. You can download the holiday food basket form here or follow the links & information below to adopt one of our children or seniors.
List 1, List 2 & List 2 (Continued)

Lists 1, 2 & 2 (continued) can be brought to the Moose Family Center (9612 Fernedge Lane, Lorton) from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on December 14th. Alternatively, they can be dropped off at INOVA HealthPlex Lorton between December 9th & 13th. 
List 3 & List 4

List 3 & 4 can be dropped off on Saturday, December 14th at Pohick Church from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. An alternate drop-off option, is to bring items to Lorton Community Action Center (LCAC) before December 13th. 
To speed up the drop-off process, please complete this donation form prior to drop-off. For questions or individuals who choose alternate drop-off & are in need of a donation receipt, please contact Linda Patterson via e-mail or call (703) 339-5161 Ext. 140.

Upcoming Events
LCAC & Lorton's Attic will be CLOSED Thursday, November 28th & Friday, November 29th in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday! Additionally, Lorton's Attic will be closed on the 30th.
#Giving Tuesday is happening on December 3rd 2019! (that's just a week & a half way)...What is #GivingTuesday? Well, read on. How can you support #GivingTuesday? You can get in on the movement by donating via our Facebook page or on our new website!

Community Spotlight
Thank you to Christ Church's Greentree Christian School 's Preschool Class class for visiting LCAC this week! These adorable donors made Thanksgiving cards for our seniors & donated soups, cereals, snacks & more! 
 
Thank you Master Print - A Vomela Company for hosting a holiday food drive for LCAC! In total, we received 362 pounds. Way to go, Master Print!

Helping our Neighbors for the Holidays


 
Thanksgiving Outreach:

LCAC needs 447 baskets and $25 grocery gift cards to help our neighbors this Thanksgiving (Food Lion is preferred) through our outreach on November 24th.You can help by providing a food basket by downloading the food list here or grocery gift cards. 
 
Official Drop-off Event for baskets and gift cards is Sunday, November 24th from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m at the Moose Family Center in Woodbridge (9612 Fernedge Lane). Our Warm Coat Outreach is happening Sunday, December 8th from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Moose Family Center, 9612 Fernedge Lane, Lorton. Donations can be drop-off information can be found here.

LCAC needs 870 baskets and $25 grocery gift cards for Thanksgiving (Food Lion is preferred). Check out the full details here. This is a great family project shopping and decorating a box for a neighbor!
 
Please consider adopting a child, teen or senior for Christmas from one of the following: list 1, list 2, list 3, or list 4. You can also donate a holiday food basket and/or $25 grocery gift cards. We need 870 of each to meet the needs of our families!
 
Lists 1 and 2 Drop-off: Bring items to Inova Healthplex - Lorton betweenMonday, December 9th and Friday, December 13th.  Alternatively, items can be brought to the Woodbridge Moose Lodge Saturday the 14th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
 
Lists 3 and 4 Drop-off: Bring items to Lorton Community Action Center (LCAC)before December 13th. Drop-off on the 14th will be at Pohick Church from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Fundraising Events

Thank you to everyone who participated in our first Fall Beer Fest to benefit LCAC at Fair Winds Brewing CompanyThe event took place Saturday, November 2nd and raised over $500 for LCAC's mission!
Lorton Community Center Updates

The new facility, slated to open in early 2022 will be the new home for LCAC, Lorton Senior Center and a variety of age-level programs for the whole community!
