BACK2SCHOOL IS AROUND THE CORNER!
Over 80 children are still available to for "adoption" on List #1 for our Back2School outreach and we anticipate that another 200 will be registered by next week. LCAC's B2S outreach is designed to help low-income children and teens start off the school year on the same footing as their peers at area schools, with new backpacks and supplies for the year.

You can help a local family by "adopting" a child for our school supply program. Our current list of children available for "adoption" can be found here. For more information about the outreach, supply lists and donation instructions, please click here.

School supplies may be dropped off from Monday, August 6 to Friday, August 17 at the INOVA Healthplex Lorton. The Healthplex is located at 9321 Sanger Street, across Lorton Road from the Comfort Inn. Enter through the Emergency Room doors, 24/7.

On Saturday, August 18, donations can be dropped off at the Moose Family Center (9612 Fernedge Lane, Lorton) from 10 AM to noon.

Volunteer opportunities are now LIVE! There are a number of shifts available from Monday, August 13 to Wednesday, August 22. Click here to find out how you can help.

Don't have time to shop for school supplies? You can still participate in our outreach by making a donation today

THANK YOU TO LCAC VOLUNTEER KEVIN STRICKLAND!
Thank you, thank you, thank you to LCAC volunteer Kevin Strickland for raising an amazing $600+ from his bake sale at the Huntsman Giant!! The bake sale had a neat format where the customer could choose the price of the desserts. Kevin's bake sale featured a number of his specialties that included: chocolate spice cupcakes with spice chocolate buttercream and shark tooth garnish, cinnamon toffee bourbon biscuit cookies, mid-western dug up spiced brownies with ganache, currant orange and ginger snow drop cookies and much more! YUM!

In addition to holding a bake sale for LCAC, Kevin recently held a summer lunch pro  gram where the kids got to decorate and eat cupcakes.

He's been such an asset to the Lorton's Attic team! Melissa Deutsch, LCAC's Thrift Store Manager, said, "It has been a sincere pleasure getting to know Kevin this summer!  He has been such an asset to the Lorton's Attic's team!  He immediately found the media center in the store and used his encyclopedic knowledge of movies and music to organize them."

Thank you for being such a wonderful volunteer, Kevin!
